Yeah I love those tents. I just allways notice when I sit up or get up , just how much better it is above the fabric section than below and you sleep below it. Should just be a thing you can buy. The Sierra designs tent is perfect at a 100 and a little it’s a good deal. Only thing I don’t like about tepees is having to allways stake them. With us sleeping on big thick pacos , once they are in the tent we usually don’t have to stake them they stay put except maybe on deso lol. I do love the mega-mid and I have seek outside stuff for winter but sil nylon is to hot . Should just sleep in a cot on the beach !

JMO but bigger is better for venting. The further my body is from the walls or the fly the better. It doesn't have mesh all the way to the tub, but I am hoping the Kelty Tallboy 6 I got at a great sale price vents well. Large door helps too.

A $$$$ solution, but Hilleberg tents with the mesh liner are the greatest. And more or less hurricane proof shell for that one day the shit goes down.
ugh, a climbing buddy brought out a couple Hilleberg’s to for us to test on a mt. rainier climb one time. Oh man, hands down, the worst tents I’ve ever used. in very modest winds, it was taking damage, even completely maxed guy lined out it was punching wildly in the winds, my solo tent version was wrapped around my face most of the night. we even sat around high camp with climbers from other groups all just laughing at the POS making it look like it was fighting 100 mph wind while all the TNF,mountain hardwear, ect barely moved.

anyway, just my experience and I’d definitely do some more research before throwing down serious coin for those tents, if you find yourself looking into them seriously, pincheC.

Yeah I allways see them advertised in the hunting world but never have used one. I still get sticker shock lol en though we have all endured a decade of insane prices for some gear. I have a marmot limelight right now that we like but it’s a two man and since we’re getting older we want a 3 or even a 4. This last main trip we had some still hot nights and I didn’t sleep great. With all the summer bugs the girls just act like it’s a no go to sleep out. Of course we all had to get up one night and throw on rain flys after a sudden and unexpected storm rolled in. The windy sand thing is sucky I guess too. Allways something but I’d rather take a chance with some sand than bake in a hot tent.

Anyone know a good quality , two pole tent where the tent is screen all the way to the tub? We need a spring summer tent really just cause my wife doesn’t want to sleep outside for bugs. I have a a few tents but they are hot and I notice after looking, a lot of tents are solid fabric like a privacy kinda deal to midway up wall and have just one side maybe two that are screen to tub. I noticed how even a breeze gets blocked by it. Just curious to see if you guys know of one that just screen . Easy self standing two pole dome three man. Thanks if you know or have a secret weapon
My wife picks out the tents and gets good ones. She picked one like your talking about just before a Grand Canyon trip we went on.
We sent it back after the trip because of a couple of gritty nights when the wind blew and we woke up with a sand dune in the tent. ⛺

I have a couple Big Agnes tents that I use for backpacking that are great, but were starting to show signs of wear from rafting trips. I picked up a couple of Marmot Catalyst 3 person tents from Sierra. They are heavier for sure, but seem to be more durable. They were normally $280 each and I got them for $80 each so definitely a great deal. I've been happy with them, but the screen does not go all the way to the tub.

Oh man that's interesting and a good reminder to test yourself instead of trusting idiots like me online. I've had several of the opposite experiences, trouble all through camp while I sleep like a baby. I haven't found any weather bad enough to phase that tent, and I really feel like I've tried!

I just scored one of these on Steep and Cheap for less than $100. I don't think they have any more left, but there are lots end of season of sales going on right now. Its big enough for two large paco pads and our two dogs. It packs down fairly small for its size. I've owned several Sierra Designs tents over the years and have had great luck with them.

My wife and I still use a 25-year-old Mt. Hardware Room With a View For 3(don’t know if they make them anymore) that is absolutely bomber. We had the door zipper replaced about 5 years ago, but it’s still solid otherwise. Doesn’t budge in strong winds, and the fly is legit- down to the ground, vestibule is big and keeps things dry.

Here's a review of my Alps Mountaineering Acropolis 4 after my 10 day Main Salmon last month. Nights were mid 40s - upper 30s. We did several layovers due to prolonged rain days. Zero condensation inside the tent, but the underside of the fly was damp. Rain protection was excellent with no leaks. I did get sand & grit inside the tent once, when we got bad micro-burst winds before one of the rain storms moved in. I'm not sure how much having more side wall fabric and less mesh would have stopped that entirely. Zero zipper issues, which was what finally killed my old Big Agnes. I did use my Big Agnes back in June before it died with cold temps & had major condensation on the inside tent walls. The Alps with extra mesh solved that problem.

I have a couple well used tents to recommend.
My car camping tent is a Alps Mounteering outfitter Meramac I think the model that 2 roll a cots would fit side by side with a foot or so passage between the cots. The outfitter version used to have heavy duty zippers and floor and mine just refuses to go bad. It is decades old.

The other is my river tripping tent. This tent is a Catoma Speed dome. It is a 3 person tent but I use it just for me. This is a dome tent plenty of space for my helinox little cot. Catoma builds tents for the military and forest fire fighters. This tent has the poles built in. You just stake down the corners and lift the tent up. Super fast camp setup. Mine has been bomber for decades as well. Only problem is I looked it up and prices have doubled since my purchase but so has every thing.
