Does anybody know of a good source in Colorado for 3/4" sheets of HDPE/Seaboard? Can't seem to find anything under $500, plus another $300 for shipping because nobody stocks it. Seems like the price has quadrupled in the last couple years.

just looking for sideboards or drop hatch covers, too?

This is smooth surface, I think I'd prefer textured.

They have other finishes besides smooth, including marine. This is just the link I was looking at for my project.

If you ever get over to the west slope, SSD Plastics in Grand Junction has done a couple hdpe decks for me. A couple years ago I bought a remnant from a larger sheet so was quite a bit cheaper. No online ordering but I have just called them to get pricing. You can just buy the material or have it cut. I had them do strap slots to my specs and bevel all the edges. Came out really nice.

I bought a sheet (54 x 96) of 3/4 Seaboard/Marine board in 2013 delivered to a SLC warehouse where I picked up and it was just over $300. I was pricing it last year for decking just the sides of trailer where tubes ride and it was over $550 plus shipping. That place in Grand Junction might have something in stock, they're friendly folks - give a call and see.

And yes, you need UV inhibitors if used as sideboards; I got away with cutting board remnants from local supplier (Densetec) as the bottoms for drop bags and the pieces were half the price of Marine board. Note they don't see much sun...

Absolutely zero maintenance with this stuff, why I bought it. And it works nicely with router/circular saw. But it's heavy. The pieces I cut for captain's floor and beaver board I ended up drilling 2" holes to lighten.

I've used a product made for the inside of semi trailers to protect the walls from fork lifts. The product is approxmenatly 14 wide and over 1/2 thick. I used as my side rails on my raft. Below is a link to one of the manufactures. Anyway if your interested you could contact Utility, Great Dane or any of the other semi trailer repair facilities. Ask them if the sell what I think is call plastic rub or kick rail for semi trailer walls. The product is easy to work with and durable

I’m gonna kick the dead horse here a bit. I did some digging on marine grade HDPE vs non-UV protected HDPE and found this study finding there was not significant difference between the two for long term exposure to sunlight.

With that being said, I feel pretty good about buying the cheaper cutting board material and building it myself for $80 instead of buying one for $200+
