Best plan I’ve found for the latex neck gasket was in my drysuit pocket when I bought it.
Get some 3/4” clear plastic tubing, long enough to go around your neck with an inch or two to spare, doesn’t have to be clear, but let’s you see the plug easy. Get a plug that fits in the end of said tubing.
Glue one end of the plug (1/2 into the tube) so it doesn’t pop out ever, the other end is slipped into the open end to make a circle.
Put that around your neck and roll the latex around it, gives some breathing room and makes for a more comfortable all day. When you think it’s gonna get fun, take it out and put somewhere safe.
Or be like me and leave it in as you dive in the water to catch the dummy in a rescue swim sim in a swift water course.
I was surprised how much water didn’t get in, I dove in, head first, slightly submerged, swam aggressively, grabbed victim and swam back. Noticed a little wet on my shirt. Probably a cup of water in the feet. I’m sure my poly soaked some up, but I was surprised.
