I am heading to a wedding in Ahwahnee by Yosemite on 6/24- 6/29. I would like to do some kayaking but I am limited to runs I can solo, a playboat, and hitch the shuttle.

-Is there any good boating in the area?
-Will there be flows at that time?
-Whats up with the Merced? Sections?
-American Whitewater does not have much info, is there a better place to look?
-Will anything in Kernville be running for a pit stop on the way? I am coming from Durango.

The Merced is just a float in The Valley, I don’t know about outside. I know that Kings River and the Lower Kern have runs, I’ve done banzai on the Kings river in a raft a long time ago. Did you look on eddyflower? Kayaking Information

Bill's site is great, but its only a small slice of the runs california has to offer.....

the "park" run is flat meandery class II. there are a few riffles where you might be able to surf for a couple of minutes but dont expect anything else. the merced gathers steam (read: steep) as it nears the western edge of the park, and the stretch from el portal down is full blown class V. you may be able to hike up the merced and run the last little bit of gradient as it comes down from the big falls and into the valley but that is about it. south merced is close but is mostly IV and V. lower portions of the merced are easier than the el portal section but are still somewhat exciting. not too much in that immediate area

I was in Yosemite last May. Boating in the park is limited a few miles of the Merced (class I) from Stoneman Bridge to Sentinel Beach. It was very scenic and a pleasant way to spend an afternoon away from the crowds. The park provides free shuttle busses throughout the valley. Unfortunately for you the concessionaire at Curry Village will likely be renting rafts for giggle and splash and the the river will be mobbed. Look for somewhere outside the park.
