We were in castle creek 2 weeks ago at similar to current flows. 1 log we could go under river right after put in, 1 we could go over on the left before the main run and the big log after the highway bridge to portage that has been there a few years. The big change is the put in. Aspen music school is getting a major facelift, so we drove 1/4 mile above to a dirt road leading across a bridge with a small bit of public parking. Other than that the run was clean.
Paddled Castle yesterday and there was some new wood. As 'kayak4gas' said, drive a little past the music school and take your next left for a nice put-in. There is a large tree visible from bridge right after that put-in that can be snuck on the right.
The new wood is not far after the house with the low-head dam. There is an aspen 3/4 across the river that can be snuck on the right, but a terrible log with branches in the drop directly below. It is hard to see from above, but the aspen is a good indicator. You can easily portage on the right side of the downed aspen.
