i don't know, but i have seen alot of the gauges doing that like a few weeks ago i saw lake creek at some insane flow of 25000 cfs, i would say that they are testing the gauges but thats just a guess

My guess would be ice on the sensors.

The spikes are alomst surely due to ice. Whether it be on the gauge or an upstream/nearby and flow/ponding aberation.

If it were a testing thing it would have been removed from the public record before it was reported.

Ice - makes sense as the spikes appear to be at night. Ice dams freezing and backing up the pool where the gage is, melting in the day.
