I was on a friend's cataraft yesterday, and he said his boat is slower than my raft going downriver. Maybe I just know how to stay in the current better than he does, but I don't know that. It made me wonder what makes a raft fast downriver (not necessarily "compared to a cat," but especially one raft to another).
(I actually would rather have a raft that is fast to respond, and I assume that is a different matter -- I assume a raft that drafts less is more responsive, less water to push.)
