I doubt that the sun has reached the bottom of the gorge at this point and therefore would expect at least some ice. My guess would be that it is running around 250cfs which aint much. It is doable for sure but it will be a long butt scoot out to the takeout. I would suggest parkdale, more sun, no ice, warmer and not much flat water if you park at old parkdale. Spikebuck and the top of 5 points will be very bony but the rest is ok for an early season warmup.
i live by the gorge and run it frequently. during the drought i ran it as low as 130. it was very bony outside the gorge. the run is kinda creeky at anything below 350 with some great little drops-there are many line options given size of river bed. there is still ice right now, but that only helps for boofing off rock. let me know if your coming this way and i may join you.
PS always looking for people to call at moments notice to run grape creek
grapecreek runs in april/may when snowpack good in sangre's with either unusually hot day or heavy rains. I make the drive between salida and canon on regular basis and often check levels at put-in. Last year in late april it was running, i was by myself and drove to all raft companies nearby to find fellow boaters to no avail. The snowpack is good in sangre's so i expect grape creek to run. i will keep you informed.
