Looking for any information out there. Family trip. 3 days, two nights. Expect the first 15 miles to be very slow and quiet and see more activity after Dewey Bridge.

Sounds like good camping possibilities on river right, and unregulated, correct?

River left from Hittle Bottom has the river road from Moab and is permitted, i think. Yes?

Best take-out? The BLM takeout well before Moab (like 12-14 miles)? Or continue on into town to the takeout there?

Favorite shuttle company?

Duckie-safe through the rapids for teenagers or novices? (Sounds like it, but just want to verify.)

Hot in August??!!

Mellow and scenic. Some II+'s along the way at high water (which you won't have).

Good camping.

Took out at last access before Moab. Worked well.

Did the shuttle ourselves. Probably good going with any shuttle company that does Cat or Westy.

it depends what you mean by high water,we duckied it once at 40,000 cfs it was a hell of alot better than 2+,try BIGwater 3+ with worse consequences for a f up.

We did the run from Dewey bridge to big bend last weekend. It was very hot, but the scenery was amazing, camping awesome and the swimming cooled you off. Nothing of note as far as rapids at 3500 cfs. Takeout beach is a nice spot to take out but very crowded at the times when the commercial trips are there, so time it right.

Cayo- just wondering, how did the Colorado get to 40,000K in Moab?? isn't just the dolores the only major tributary dumping in there? just asking, can't remember.

It was about 20G's when we did it. So, not high water like your trip, but looking at the recent historic flows for Westy, it hasn't hit 30 that many times recently. I bet that'd be fun. I'd love to do it again over 30 or 40.

Westwater was 37,000 cfs ,the ranger talked us out of running it and sent us to Hittle Bottom.Dolores was 3000,it was in the late 90's 98?

Wow, westy at 37G....i've done it at 15G and that was plenty in a small playboat (eddies and such)

I am curious about the camping between Onion Creek and Take Out Beach. I can't remember if there are good spots between there or not.

Did it w/ the family in May, perfect for kids and dogs. An excellent senic mellow trip from Cisco to Take Out Beach. Camped 1st night at Dewey Bridge and 2nd at Onion Cr. 1st day was longish but not hard, the next 2 were short in camp and at the take out by early afternoon both days. At these flows (?) there should be many options for camping on sand bars, beaches, etc. Class II, duckies should be fine, although I guess you could flip and swim anything if... The upper part is mostly rolling hills/bluffs and ranch land, the lower is beautiful w/ tall walls and views of Fisher Towers and Castle Valley. Have fun.

I am curious about the camping between Onion Creek and Take Out Beach. I can't remember if there are good spots between there or not.

There are several good spots (w/ shade) at Onion Creek, but as far as I can remember camping depends on sand bars below that.

There is now a takeout at big bend and one river right just before the 191 bridge, depending how long you want to float and if you want to avoid BLM which has a lot of commercial traffic.
