Westwater question- hike up Marble Canyon?

How far can you hike up Marble Canyon? Does it close down quick, or can you get up/out to the rim? Ropes necessary, or just a scramble?

We've never had the time to do it, but it sure looks engaging up there.

I remember hiking up there once a few years ago. No ropes needed and I think I got out of Marble Canyon by scrambling up the side. I can't remember if there was a boxed out section

It's a really sweet hike up a grotto of pools....just went this weekend. Some sketchy moves but pretty much a scramble...enjoy

This is river left at the top of Marble rapid? I've been meaning to check that out…

Is there room to tie off a bunch of boats and do lunch?
Yes, river left, right at the top of marble rapid. Plenty of room for 5-6 boats. Scramble up slick black to bench, not sure about a lunch spot, but could work. It's beautiful up that canyon this time of year.

I've never been up there myself but was talking to Alvin last weekend and he mentioned it. Apparently the hike has been virtually untouched until recently when the word has gotten out about it. Now the area is starting so show signs of use and abuse according to people that have seen it before and now.

Please tread lightly up there.

Thanks Andy for the suggestion. Tread lightly up there please. Westwater in general is a real special place so let's focus on keeping it that way well into the future.
