hi,

some of you might laugh at this, but i am a newbie and looking for advice on how to run cable rapid between rancho and state bridge. I assume you stay right? I know this is the only serious rapid in that section and want to make sure what the right line is......at 1500 cfs for a beginner i think this is a good rapid to learn on. Any comments on this rapid at lower flows 900-1100? Thanks for the help,

Paddle away from things that scare you and from areas less than 6" deep.
Then run it again and paddle towards things that scare you (but still away from the shallows).

There are no serious rapids on State Bridge. What one is "cable car"? State bridge is something that any first time can do after one pool session.

1500 is easy for a beginner. 900-1000 is even easier.

Just go with someone who knows what they are doing and remember to lean away from the current and you'll be fine. If you wear a PFD, helmet, and don't stand up in the current, you can't possibly* get hurt.

Right up the middle in the wave train, go around rocks on the way in, if they are showing.

Just get really hammered at the put in then you won't worry about anything...this tends to work for me on this run.
