And so it begins!

Mine's a custom job. An old bass boat trailer stripped down, rebuilt with angle iron, treated 1x4's in the floor, and boat deck built on top with two 2x10's(not treated and need to replace). New 2500'b axle with 15in tires. No clue on weight, but pulls smoothly at up to 80-85mph. Boat deck is just high enough to slide coolers, dry box, and tubs underneath; but not too tall that I have wind drag on the top. Each deck board has rollers on the back, but they haven't been as useful as I thought.

And yes, those are trucker mudflaps. They help keep the muck out of the gear on the trailer, and prevent the rocks from ricocheting back into the car(shattered a rear window on good ole Trough Rd).

Enjoy.

Where are people buying rollers for utility trailer conversions?
I have ordered two conveyer rollers: (Working load 265 lbs. each)
https://www.grainger.com/product/ASHLAND-CONVEYOR-Galv-Replacement-Roller-24K721

I'm not paying shipping as there is a Grainger in town. My trailer is 8' wide and the rollers are 46" wide.

I am going to mount four eye bolts on the end of the trailer: (Working load 300 lbs. each)
https://www.lowes.com/pd/National-H...ed-Steel-Plain-Eye-Bolt-with-Hex-Nut/50237227

The ends (or maybe only one end) of the rollers are spring loaded so they can be removed for transport/storage/submersion. The 7/16" hex shaft may rotate in the 1/2" eye bolt, so I will just add zip ties to prevent that.

I haven't tried any of this yet but I will add to this thread once I am done.
Do you think the hex eye brackets they recommend are too flimsy or just cost more than the eye bolt?
Yeah, not paying $80+ for four L-brackets. Plus the fact I can adjust the height and the cheap eye bolts and zip tie combo will match the rest of my ghetto trailer.

The Northern Tool rollers look good, but there is not one nearby and it would cost over $100, I'm looking at ~$70 for the conveyer rollers and hardware. The eye bolts won't interfere when loading motorcycles onto the trailer and will provide tie down points.

The whitewaterworthy.com Holy Roller trailers look super nice, maybe someday.
Just got done with my trailer build.

The oar box in the back is the way to go, lets you lock them up and not worry about them in route. Another cool trick is using elevator bolts for the plywood.

Man, I'm glad I looked at page 7 of this thread as I need to re-deck my trailer this fall, the elevator bolts are so much better than carriage bolts!
Two 46" conveyer rollers on my ghetto trailer, complete with old billboard PVC/lattice over the badly checked plywood deck. Haven't had a change to try and winch the raft yet but I expect to be able to load the 16' raft+frame on the trailer myself.

Either going to use some painted plywood or HDPE plastic runners where the tubes slide and leave the middle exposed.
On my cheap-ass snowmobile trailer (at least it has 14" tires) I used three pieces of 2' x 8' vinyl lattice, the trailer is 11' long so I have 8' + 3' on each side where my 16' raft tubes sit.

Pros:
- Cheap
- Slippery, I throw a bucket of water on it launching/retrieving, with roller on the back I can pull the raft+frame (only) off by myself, helps when winching raft back onto trailer

Cons:
- Lots of carriage bolts (at least 24 for my 11' x 8' trailer deck)
- Shrinks over time but bolting it well helps
- Ghetto
That trailer is awesome, love the bolt hangers for tie downs, room/mount for a motorcycle, electric winch(?) and the HDPE "bars" for sliding. Is it mostly aluminimum?
How would you lock that trailer hitch?

Got the roller replaced. With locknuts and loctite on both ends!
Chunky loctite?
I've seen systems where the "axle" are essentially just bolts long enough to clear the bushings. What's the advantage of having the axle go the full length of the roller vs just bolts just longer than the bushings?
To make roller removal easier for sure, probably simplifies bracket installation vs attaching fixed spindles.
