And so it begins!

Mine's a custom job. An old bass boat trailer stripped down, rebuilt with angle iron, treated 1x4's in the floor, and boat deck built on top with two 2x10's(not treated and need to replace). New 2500'b axle with 15in tires. No clue on weight, but pulls smoothly at up to 80-85mph. Boat deck is just high enough to slide coolers, dry box, and tubs underneath; but not too tall that I have wind drag on the top. Each deck board has rollers on the back, but they haven't been as useful as I thought.

And yes, those are trucker mudflaps. They help keep the muck out of the gear on the trailer, and prevent the rocks from ricocheting back into the car(shattered a rear window on good ole Trough Rd).

Enjoy.

So where do I buy the long rollers and brackets again? I checked all the treads and missed the link.

Thanks in advance!!

Do you think the roller is worth the price over the gas pipe/PVC option? If I go with the PVC, what size do you recommend? 1"? PVC over 3/4" Gas Pipe? Smaller?

Thank you.[/QUOTE

In a word YES! PVC is a temporary solution to a permant problem just like duct tape and zip ties. What is your back worth?
These rollers were our version 1.0 and are very effective but do make enough noise to clear a ramp unless you spray them with lube. Version 2 are quite as a church mouse.

Painfully noisy but very effective. How was the grand?
Would be a lot of work. The frame is about seven foot wide and then two more braces running lengthwise about 2ft in from the frame. You can kind of see the frame and bracing in one of the pictures. Where the frame is is about where a bigger boat's tubes ride. I could go this route but I'd basically have to cut out all the bracing, remove the expanded metal then install my rollers how I want and reskin with diamond plate.
Bigger roller would work but don't really want the boat weight suspended between two or three big rollers.

The decking is smooth expanded metal not tread plate so no real wear. I used the trailer double stacked to the Main ( think MT4Runner was launching when we rolled in) and a Ladore trip. My cat slides ok on it but my Rogue raft doesn't like it at all. Either going to use some painted plywood or HDPE plastic runners where the tubes slide and leave the middle exposed.
We retrofitted a trailer for OTT's "Paddled Pub" boat that had similar construction. We added a piece of 2"x2" square tube to the top of outside frame. The roller brackets were they welded to the top of the that. We put rollers every 3' and it turned the rig into a one person launch and recovery routine. It works the same as....

Nice looking rollers. I love seeing people get dialed in!!!

Just finished this conversion. Materials continue to skyrocket so prices will continue to climb at an alarming rate. Order soon or pay more later.

Axle manufacture says 3” unless something has changed.
That is safe assumption with humans but not with anything mechanical (if it moves or spins). Inspecting and repairing worn out parts is part of the beauty of owning things. If you don’t know don’t go.
There is nothing quite as exciting as having your wheel pass you no the freeway! If your really lucky, you could even start a 🔥👎

Old boat trailers often have junk axles and hubs that don’t fit standard 5 on 4.5” wheels. It’s easy to get upside down when you buy something old. Last refurb trailer I attempted ending up not saving much over new construction and was no where close to square. If it was powder coated it would have cost the same.

The EMT has a low enough deflection on its own to work with 8.5’ spans. Our brackets are specifically designed for our system so I can not speak compatibility with other products.
