And so it begins!

Mine's a custom job. An old bass boat trailer stripped down, rebuilt with angle iron, treated 1x4's in the floor, and boat deck built on top with two 2x10's(not treated and need to replace). New 2500'b axle with 15in tires. No clue on weight, but pulls smoothly at up to 80-85mph. Boat deck is just high enough to slide coolers, dry box, and tubs underneath; but not too tall that I have wind drag on the top. Each deck board has rollers on the back, but they haven't been as useful as I thought.

And yes, those are trucker mudflaps. They help keep the muck out of the gear on the trailer, and prevent the rocks from ricocheting back into the car(shattered a rear window on good ole Trough Rd).

Enjoy.

One other angle I found while running thru old pictures. I replaced those tail lights with LEDs. Mucho bettero!

I saw your post on the other trailer thread. Interesting oar placement. Do you ever have road dust/dirt/funk issues thru the openings in the middle?
Mine was built by a fishing guide that came up with the design, he has since sold it to Mirage and they sell them through Cascade.** They probably have more pictures.***
And that's why it looks vaguely familiar to me. I've stared at Cascade's catalog enough I should've seen it sooner. I think their newer ones have rounded corners and some diamond plate.
three sections of motorized conveyor, bobbed one on an angle and welded it to the back end of the other two. Removed about 70% of the rollers for weight saving. bolted it right on top of my drift boat trailer and away we go. last to arrive at the launch- first one ready. one man loading at the take out. Civilized....
Very nice! What kind of bag(s) are on the front of your boat? Look very appealing.
What about something like this?
HealthSmart Brass Expandable Door Hinge Pair-640-2006-0000 at The Home Depot
Note - I'm also voting to ditch the center hinge system. Unless you put a spacer of some sort between the 2 doors, you'll never be able to have both of them open at the same time. I'm picturing two (maybe 3) of these hinges on each outside edge with the doors swinging outwards.
You could forego the hinges altogether. The company I work for has a similar trailer and we remove the boards to access the trailer space (or lift from one side if we just need quick access). You may need a support beam down the middle. We have a piece of angled steel that rests between supports on either side and oriented like a v. This brace comes out to aid in loading the trailer with dry boxes and other gear. I believe the boards are either 1/2" or 3/4", made to be outdoors, but nothing super fancy and then we primed and painted them to seal them up a little more.
Since I assume you have access to said trailer, picture please!
420,

Good call on replacing the tires. You just see too many people broke down with a busted tire that looks 100 years old, or their axle has rotted/warn through.

Might I suggest looking at replacing the axle (and possibly the springs too) with something a little heavier duty? One because who knows how many miles it's got on it already. And two because that current setup looks VERY light duty.

If you do replace the springs, might I also suggest shifting them back maybe 6-12 inches. Your tongue weight will be a little heavier, but it should cut down on the "waggle" most trailers evenly balanced get when the weight is ever shifted more towards the back. (IE - a heavy cooler chunked in the back b/c your buddies didn't know any better) Which in turn should mean you can travel at a little faster speeds safely, and maybe have your boat sit back a little and not risk rubbing on that free wench.... oops I mean winch.

If you buy new, etrailer.com has lots of the essentials.
Another reason for going a little heavier duty - you're putting trex in as your decking. Isn't that stuff heavy as shite compared to wood?
Understood. Big pricey project vs the essentials to get me out there!

If you get waggle, re-balance your weight to be more front heavy.
Relax people. Some folks (myself included) like to give advice whether you want it or not. Keep in mind you aren't the only one reading. If the knowledge provided for you helps others that weren't aware, then it's not wasted.

Paul7,
Here are the pics of my trailer. Aluminum decks that can be raised another 12". That way I can fit a lot more gear underneath. Tailgate folds down for access as well as a small side door. Lots of tied own points/steps to climb up.

Damn fine trailer. Only question I have is why are the 2 diamond plate mud things on the front only like 4 inches wide? Why wouldn't you make it wider or even the entire width of the front?

Soo damn good looking!! 2012 tracker boat trailer I paid $200 for! 93 carriage bolts and two days of welding!

This is a slick lookin trailer! Did you varnish that ply wood???
To each their own. I don't see it that much different than the flat snowmobile trailers people use for their raft. That being said, I have way too much stuff that I bring to not have some storage capacity. It is shiny. Almost has a chariot look to it.
I got the invite too. Let's get this shit back on topic. You've already seen my trailer, but whatever. It's better than bitching about the lurker.

This is my new trailer I have been building over the last two months.

I wanted a bomber trailer that could handle anything i could throw at it. I hope this is it.
Screw needing a like button on the buzz. Where is the jealous button??? For a non-storage style trailer, this thing looks legit!
As an owner of a swing away jack, I would say be prepared for the swivel action bearings to be filled with little gritty rocks from every dirt road. Mine's gotten so tuff to move that I've found myself not using it as much, and just throw a jack stand under my trailer tongue in a lot of instances.
Note - mine was a bass pro purchase years ago. Hopefully they've gotten better at sealing the bearings.

And if someone's got a remedy for getting all those little rocks out, please share!
I love the electrical junction box, I put one on my trailer and it makes life much easier. I would be worried about the mounting location and the plastic lid. You will get a lot of gravel kicked up driving on dirt road and I think that would take a beating.
I had the same exact thought.

Also, do you plan to resurface the flatbed part? I would be worried about abrasion to the boat.
edit- I wrote this before getting to end of the thread. Rollers sound promising.
2 thumbs up Mr Longmont! I think my favorite new part(at least to me) was the gate hinges. I'm absolutely gonna see if I can borrow that idea!
Other Josh, you took out at Ruby Mtn on Sunday, yes? I'm the schmo in the grey JPW cat that walked over to tap your oar back on the boat while you were loading and also inquired about your boat's length.

The trailer looks bomber.
