Today I lost my throw rope in Waterton Canyon above Green Bridge Rapid. I will start by apologizing to everyone in the boating community. I do realize the hazard and will continue to do everything that I can to try to find this rope.
The following is a description of the rope, where I lost it and where it might be:
It is a yellow Salamander Retriever waist bag with 55’ of yellow rope. The entire length of rope was deployed when it went into the river.
The last time we saw it was about 100 yards above the Green Bridge rapid. There is a large eddy on river right with a large pine tree partially in the river at the end of this eddy and there is a rock about the size of a compact car just left of center in the river with most of the current moving to the left. The last time we saw the rope it was just above this rock. It may be wrapped around it but if it is it is too deep to see it right now.
My name (Bill Crockett) and phone number are on the throw bag. If you find it and can retrieve please keep it and call me so that I can post again to let everyone know that it is out of the river.
Again I apologize to everyone. I spent a lot of time looking for it today and will continue to look for it. Several boaters have run the section since I lost the rope. They were looking for it also and did not see it. Thanks to everyone who helped me look for it today.
As the level drops please watch for this rope. I plan to return tomorrow and as often as possible to look for it.
