I would find a way to carry the motor off the transom. If left mounted on the transom with the lower unit extended (unless braced exceptionally well) I would worry that the bouncing and vibrational forces exerted on the mounting components of the motor itself -- not the mount on the raft -- very likely could fatigue and fracture them.

Unless the raft's tubes are rock hard all the time, a rigid transom saver will just put another, different, set of stresses on the lower unit and motor mounts.

Sort of a fun crazy thing to do. But given the way saltwater corrodes things, I don't hold out much hope for the future of that truck.

And of course the whole time I was watching it I wondered if the engine had been removed and the front compartment stuffed with blocks of Styrofoam to add to the flotation provided by their outrigger drums.
