I think I saw this design on the buzz years ago. By having the load being anchored attached to the bottom of the sand stake thru the cable, for the stake to fail it would have to pull all the soil at the bottom of the stake out, it is an incredibly strong anchor. Light weight alunimum.
I made a few of these for my upcoming grand trip. I have one extra to send free of charge to the first buzzard to send me a PM.

toughstakes makes a similar design that works great in either loose sand or snow. Its similar to your design except has much larger wings at the bottom of it. You might try and weld some fins on yours for soft sandy soil.

In hard or rocky soil, however, they can dent against a rock or soil if pushed other than by hand.

In rock or hard soil I'd rather have a steak like yours, it is less likely to bend or dent.

The alunimum angle used is 1/4" thick so the center spline welded together is 1/2". I've had no problems banging these in at any Grand amp

I have had good luck with the regular sand stakes by angling them away from the boat's pull force at about 45 degrees of angle.

What this angle tends to do when force is applied from the boat, is to pull the stake into the ground.

If the stake is pushed into the ground at a 90 degrees or even slightly toward the boat's angle of applied force, it will tend to bend the stake forward and pull it out.

A few times on really deep sand camps, we have shoveled down a few feet and buried a X of drift wood with a hoopie loop up to the top to carabiner boat lines to. We tested this setup with multiple big guys pulling and nothing moved.

That stake design did not work for me...

I made that exact same stake and used it a year ago in the deep sand camps on the Lower Salmon River. Drove the stake in the ground 2 feet. It did not work at all...pulled right out of the sand - straight up out of the sand. It did not matter which side the cable was on. The Tough Stake at
Sand Stakes for Camping
has a much wider base. Maybe that is why theirs worked and mine didn't. Anyone else have a similar experience?
