Just checked out their website ... def. not cheaper (Tomcat) but looks interesting. The flooring looks like it would keep your butt out of water. Wonder how it is tracking on flat water? Be interested in their free demo - maybe run Clear Creek and see how it functions.

 

performance wise youd be hard pressed to feel a difference the tomcat has been bomber for me the lynx has premium material and zipper covers imo the tomcat will do and last just as good as the lynx with proper care.

 

This answer is for sure is what I was looking for - performance wise. Just need to find a used one up for sale!

Performance wise you may not see much of a difference until the tomcat goes down and the lynx is still floating. The difference in materials and warranty support is real. You can see where your money went. FWIW, I get lots of tomcats but not many lynx's in the shop. Tomcats are fine for the money but if you can afford it and are keeping it for the long haul, Id go lynx.

I wonder if thats just a function of tomcats outnumber lynx in the field by a fair margin, it seems. and they likely are used by folks less experienced, so they drag them on the ground, hit more rocks, etc. But no question the lynx is made of better stuff. buy once cry once is real. but you can also treat your stuff real sweet and make it last too.

 

I had a tomcat I beat the shit out of for 3 years. Bought it used, replaced the bladders 3 time under warranty. Once the warranty ran out I sold it because I knew I would keep abusing it. I really enjoyed it but I wouldn’t buy a used one w/o a warranty.

edited to add didn’t the warranty for the tomcat used to be 3 years? Just looked and it’s now one year.
