I want to notify everybody about the importance of donating to the Healthy Rivers Fund on your 2010 Colorado state income tax return. The Fund is a voluntary tax check off program that provides Coloradans the opportunity to donate a portion of their tax return to river restoration projects across the state. Money is distributed directly to local watershed groups to complete projects right in our backyards.

Since its inception, the Healthy Rivers Fund has financed projects in every corner of Colorado, enhancing rivers for paddlers, fisherman and other river enthusiasts. Past projects have ranged from erosion control and river restoration, to water quality testing and obsolete dam removal. Since the establishment of the Fund in 2003, 86,342 citizens donated over $630,000 from their tax returns to fund 50 local projects.

More information about the Healthy Rivers Fund and a complete list of previous water enhancement projects can be found at http://www.coloradowater.org/cwpf.php.

Donating to the Fund is simple. Locate the CheckOff Colorado section of your state income tax return - on line 34 - and contribute a portion of your return to the Colorado Healthy Rivers Fund.

This April 15th support your local rivers by "Checking the Box" for the Healthy Rivers Fund on your tax return. Every dollar counts!
