I know the difference between the two but what are the benefits of either skirt and will one implode easier than the other? I have a skirtworks bungee style now. I don't have much to choose from in my area.

I bought a rubber rand for the simple fact that I felt like bungee rands were marketed for pussies (see my post: rant rant rant). Bungee rands are easier to put on, but they implode easier too. But, in all reality if you're just starting out, it will likely be a while before you really need a rubber rand anyway... you know, unless you're already goin' off 20 footers and stuff...

I struggled with my rubber rand for a bit... it was pretty tough to put on for a while, but now that it's broken in it's perfect and I love it.

I'll echo soggy's post.

I use rubber rand for creekin and playin. Bungee most of my boating. River running, lite play, goofing off.

All three of my boats are wavesport with XL cockpits. My skirtworks skirt has imploded a couple of times.

I've had both. Recent Snapdragon bungie let in too much water. IR Klingon is amazingly dry on both play and creek boats. Easier to put on than rand skirt. There's a sticky rubber layer they claim reduces chance of implosion.

Suggestions for sprayskirt for a Necky Jive 8'10"? The cockpit is narrower than most modern boats. Will the IR Royale be dry as it's touted to be on modern boats?

I honestly never understood the obsession with easy on skirts. I've never had an issue with properly sized rand skirts being particularly difficult to put on and I can't even open a pickle jar. I also find bungee skirts are fairly dry initially but tend to stretch out and be less tight over time. My snapdragon skirts also had a tendency to fail catastrophically where the material attaches to the bungee, but maybe that has nothing to do with the style.

Dan, I'd think any skirt would keep the dirt sufficient inside your Jive for planter box purposes.

I use the IR Royale. I have a Remix 79 (notoriously leaky cockpit rim), Stinger and a Braaap. I use the same skirt on all three boats. The Royale is the driest skirt I have ever used...bone dry! There is usually still dust in my boat at the takeout...as long as I stay in the boat during the run ;) Call the guys at IR to get the best fit for your boat.

I found a shop that had a new skirtworks rand for really good deal try to get them sold since skirtworks is closing. I couldn't turn down the price so I will give it a shot if it doesn't work the I will get a IR royal.
