I've never been to south canyon before. Does anybody know if it'd be chill to take beginners from Grizzley to South Canyon or is it best just to get out at Two Rivers Park? I'd like to lengthen the run, but wasn't sure if it'd freak a couple of beginners out.

south canyon is class three at this level. it is a straight forward line down the tongue through the wave train. but it is a big rapid for beginners. it probably depends on their level of agressiveness, and your ability to rescue them when or if they swim south canyon. most of the good rapids between grizzly and south canyon are after two rivers, so it may be worth it if the beginners are up for it. it might, however, be better to do it after some time on moving water in a more tame setting, if this is their first trip out, they will be gripped in the rapids, especially south canyon. it is easy to check out from the south canyon exit, just drive across the river and park and have a look, then make the call.

south canyon is awesome. at high water levels I think south canyon wave might get pretty huge, it's probably best to see what others say.

at lower flows (2000cfs) it's a great beginner run- starts out easy class 2 and increases in difficulty to one class 3 at the end (south canyon wave)

I've only run it once and i was a beginner at the time, and i loved it.

Check with others to see how it is at current flows.

ACC gave a good response. If it's their first day, I'd say no unless they're gung-ho and have a solid roll (or you don't mind rescuing them). If they've had a couple of days on moving water they should be fine. The line is not complex (straight down the middle), but the waves can be big with a couple of weird laterals (all from a beginner's perspective). Just remind them to keep their hips loose and be ready to brace!

Its pretty straight forward. If anything have them point left as there is a little bit of a pin potential on the river right. But in general, I swam it before I ran it in a kayak, and it has about 300 yds before the next drop of eddy's to retreive boats and people. However try not to scare them outa boating haha. Id start at no name to West glenwood if anything....of the three options. Maybe do a double. Then step up to Grizzly creek to Westy, then proceed to South Canyon as the finaly!
