Good first boat. They're really long and really wide and really deep. Huge volume.

I would HIGHLY recommend recessing the cockpit/coaming. The deck as designed is up to the bottom of my ribcage...and I'm 6'-5"

Thank you for the image and suggestion MT4Runner. I will let him know. Doing a lot of detail items on the dory and getting close to the end. Not in a big rush with the snow coming soon. Attached my first section of weather stripping on a side hatch and it fit really well. I am building a 23 feet Panga right now for my winter project. Stay warm everyone!

At first I was thinking that a 4' flat spot would be a LOT of flat for a boat that short..but it appears you have plenty of rocker in the ends--11-12"?
How wide?

I lofted a 14' boat (transom-ender) with a 42" flat spot and 44" floor. 9" rocker in the ends. 72" wide at the gunnels. I will prebuild all the bulkheads and hatches but probably won't spring the boat until fall.

Oh man dial that in and we’ll all volunteer to buy a set of plans or offsets or cad cut outs lol! We e been talking about a 12-13 foot two person weekender for awhile! Very cool!
Charlie, you'd have to built a boat!

I like the sound of your design numbers MT4Runner. The two boats are really close in dimensions.

Here are more details for this prototype:
Width at gunwales = 78 inches
Side height at oarlock = 24 inches
Bow rocker = 10 inches
Stern rocker = 9.5 inches

I think this size range will be very comfortable for two people and easy to manage solo.

Ooh! Yours is almost like the Eddyline Chub in dimensions
I agree, they'll fill a currently open niche. Timber Boatworks also has some in the mid-range.
I like the look of Raindog's 10.5' tandori, but think it looks slightly short putting the bow rider way up in the bow...they better be a good highsider as they're sitting out on the tippy end! I recall hearing that OARS had problems when they started doing forward-facing rear seats and it pushed passenger butts farther back..and they had more flips.

The big GC dories are too big for most rivers, and with the GC/Colorado flows being down for the forseeable future..are even big there.
The doryaks/mini dories are a hoot, but only fun for one. They take up quite a bit of volume/logistics for shuttling.
I'm thinking mine will be manageable for one, comfortable for two, and with the stern hatch removed, good for 3 while fishing/daytrips on moderate water.

MT4Runner, love the idea of building the interior components first. Post some photos when you get rolling. I may try out this tandem with two thwart seats initially and test out a few layouts before decking the whole thing.
