It's December, wow! Another great paddling year is almost finished. Time to start thinking about the start of the next season… It always begins on New Years Day with Shoshone. Warm, cold, sun, clouds or pounding snow the crew will be there at high noon ready to paddle! All are welcome. Last year we had a record 130+ people show up. I'd love to beat that this year so bring a friend and lets bring the New Year in right by being on the river!

Bring your warm gear, dry suits, gloves & pogies, skull caps and wool socks.
Here is an article I wrote with some tips I've gathered in all the years of winter paddling in Colorado. Lessons of an Ice Boofer

Who is going to make it this year?

Lets plan to leave for the first lap at 12:00 noon at Grizzly Creek (maybe arrive a little early to get changed and load boats) and be leaving the parking lot for the first Shoshone lap ASAP. I'd love to do another group photo at the putin at 12:15 so If we can all gather below the ramp at the waters edge that would be amazing. If you have a shuttle driver bring them along. We often do multiple laps!

Here is a Facebook page to share stoke, carpools, clothing questions and above all pictures from this year and past years. https://www.facebook.com/ShoshoneNYD

See you all soon, it cant be anything short of amazing!

I was in some of the original trips back in the day (late 90's) as a teenager but haven't participated for various reasons since then. I've thought about it for the last few years but never got off my ass to come along but I think I'm gonna resolve to join ya'll this year.

I'll probably take my Hyside Mini-Max with an oar frame unless a friend wants to come and R2 with me.

That will be great! We actually had a great turnout of rafts last year. Seems there is always someone looking to jump in a raft too if you are willing/needing paddlers.

Getting geared up and ready to go! Just wondering if anyone has put eyes on the river to know if there are any ice dams?

There weren't any ice dams when I came through just under a week ago...who knows now. Maybe check the facebook page.

I'm in Glenwood and will be there too...taking my Mini-Max...should be fun.
