I just bought a new warner fiberglass paddle. Most of my old ones have split and chipped and frayed on the tips and edges. Is there anything (other than duct tape) that can be used to help prevent this problem?

I know the answer is likely no, no solution, but just thought I would ask.

A few options

You have a few options.

1) Rim Rubber from Salamander- works with wood and fiberglass.

2) Epoxy the edges with a thin bead of 24hr set-up Epoxy.

3) Sand down your edges- Believe it or not sanding down your paddle can make it last longer. Keeping the edge flat stopps big chunks from breaking off.

Or, maybe a combo of all three.

Cheap fix: Go to most any auto parts store and get that rubbery plastic stuff for putting on the edges of car doors. Put it around the edges of your new blade.
