we sadly need to give up our Mex Hat to Clay Hills permit for June 17-22
Cancer return in family member has reprioritized our plans
No one from our group willing to be trip leader without us.
size 22
Camps already set for
Night 4 slickhorn C
Night 5 Grand Gulch, solstice
We paid for the permit already in February, $264 and can transfer it to someone who is registered with BLM already, would like to recoup the $264 is all and it is yours.
I just have to let Kay know who is taking the permit.
We will be unable to use it later this season.
I will call Kay at BLM next week if no interest for an open permit.
I am on a cell phone this weekend and won't be checking internet
Please call 503-260-9103

San Juan Permit

You can not give your permit to someone else. You have to cancel, And then it's luck of the draw( or phone call in this case) THEY DON'T HOLD PERMITS.

Spoke with Kay yesterday who informed me that I can transfer the name of the permit to someone else, by informing her of the name of the new trip leader.
The new trip leader must have the permit in hand at launch and the BLM must have the information for the new trip leader

Hmmm.......that is different from my understanding of the system for the SJ as well. I know you can do that with Chama permits, but my I thought the SJ permits were as "pasta" described.

Eastcreek mentioned that he had already paid for his permit. I wonder if that changes the rules.

Sorry guys, you are incorrect in your understanding of the system. As stated earlier, thr trip leader can be transferred to another person as long as that person is registered with BLM and Kay is aware of the transfer. She has to "OK" it. The permit language states the permit transfer has to be approved by BLM.
This permit was paid in February. I am not SELLING it I am not GIVING it to someone.
Think about it, you break a leg 2 weeks before your launch, you transfer your permit to someone so the group can go. It would be crazy to disrupt an entire trip group to put the permit back onthe BLM grab board.
Come on guys, either you want it or you don't. I have spoken to Kay about this process. It has been allowed in the past.
Oh, its availible, the guy who was going to take had to change plans.
