Got a trip coming up and just wondering if anyone out there knows if you have to pay in cash at the Navajo Kiosk in monument valley. I know you can get the permit online but it takes forever and last time we just drove over into monument valley because we picked up a permit last minute. We went into the visitors center and after some confusion we went back to the kiosk at the entrance of the park and paid the guy there for our permit to camp and hike on river left. So does anyone know if you have to pay CASH? I can't remember.

Navajo Parks & Recreation - Permits

As a heads up, they changed their structure for the San Juan last fall. It is now a straight $12/per person/per night for both camping and hiking, instead of a price for each one.

Not sure about cash versus other means. There hours during the spring and fall are relatively haphazard so beware about plans to buy on site.

Best of luck and enjoy the Juan.
