I worked here for years. That is all. Black Cat: Home
Be careful of visiting this website, because if you do, the Black Cat Mafia, which has recently expanded their reach with a new online syndicate, will take over your computer, drain your bank accounts, access and run up a huge bill on your pornhub account, and spam embarrasing pictures to all your contacts.

Hell I do that on my own for fun. Then I send the same ones to my contacts' moms.

Although according to the paddle "girl" the BC Mafia already has our names and addresses just by registering on the Buzz! Who knew they could glean that info from my forum sign up email which is only used for signing up to forums. Damned interwebs!

I thought you were about to post about the guy who put sharp rocks in the river to purposely pop rafts. I won a permit for July 1st in the January lottery, but the rangers somehow didn't tell me until the first week of June. We tried to put a trip together but with the 44 hours driving round trip, the fires and evacuations, and some injuries in my crew we called it off about a week before.

BUT... apparently the week we were supposed to be here a local took a grinder to a triangular shaped piece of rock, and placed it in the middle of a mandatory raft channel. From what I hear at least 10 or 12 boats got ripped to shreds this way and some people ended up bailing from the trip while on-river because of it. What a stupid way for your trip to end. Definitely unfortunate and also illegal, but i'm kind of not surprised as Oregon has a very staunch history of white supremacy, neo-nazis and the KKK, uber-libertarians, and other types of people who don't understand why Trump is not actually good for them but have been recently emboldened by the alt-right rhetoric that finds its west coast home in rural Oregon and in the Portland police department.

I hope antifa punches them in the face.
What a douche statement bringing politics into this. Antifa are the asses ruining the cities...

And this is when I became 100% certain this was a James post...even when writing with a female "voice" his ego forces it's way to the front :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
You haven’t been around here long enough to know the backstory and James posting on this site. Sorry but that’s not James.

You are entertaining yourselves but your barking up the wrong tree.

My wife and I have enjoyed the Rogue many times over decades of rafting. We also went down the river this summer but we will never do a summer trip again. The locals were fine. I didn’t appreciate the commercial groups sending a lone scout boat ahead of the group to secure the best campsites for them. Our first day was well over 25 miles on very low flows. All the sites were taken and often by a single boat with lots of chairs set up but no one in them yet. I want to enjoy a river and not feel like I am in competition for a site to camp And to share it with others who need a place to stay.
I would suggest a spring or fall trip. The crazies are gone by then and the river is way more chill

You don't have to be a member to read the threads, and I've been creeping MTN buzz threads for years, and have read all the past threads about and from James/Greenwall/every other alias. Every person has a "voice" when they write, and it's hard to get away from even when you try. This is 100% James' "voice". Or do you really think that someone messaged paddle girl the lost wiki page for "Catboat Mafia", and sent her their stupid logo? If you believe that, I don't know what to tell you lol

You are more than welcome to do the same. Or, get up and be on the river early.

+1 to the irony of someone from Colorado being upset about not being welcome by another state's locals. I know I can't stand Californians and Texans here in CO because of the overcrowding at every outdoor spot. What goes around comes around, I suppose.

Good reminder, whether or not the story is true, that we are all out there because we enjoy it regardless of where we come from. We have that much in common. Unless you're proactively trashing someone's local river, bucking river etiquette or being a jackass at the ramp, you shouldn't expect friction.

Winter is coming. Hope the rafting community's collective morale improves by spring.

View attachment 70371 Hey everyone, thought I would give a rundown on our most recent trip out to the Rogue. It was first time running that river with my BF and some friends. It was pretty low and the river was technical most the way. We had a few mishaps, that was me who put us on the rocks so I was trying to push off while my BF ran the boat 🤭

Question for all you experienced Rogue runners. Seemed like a weird vibe down there towards us from “locals”. They looked at our boats and gear and asked where we were from “we don’t run that stuff around here are you from Colorado?” Which we were 🙄.

One of the hangups occurred at Wildcat rapid there was a whole group of boaters with all custom boats sitting there drinking beers laughing at everyone not making it through the run. They were saying “ is that how Mountainbuzz told you to run it” why I found this group!
Just seemed kind of rude, no one offered a line or any help and they said “We like to spend part of our day watching kooks at Carnage Corner”

In the night at camps we would hear gunshots and partying. It was a full moon one night while we were camped at Tacoma and we swore we saw a small group float by in the moon light. When we woke up in the morning we had condoms over our oarlocks and our beer was all gone out of our cooler. Someone had written “Catboat Mafia” in the sand and “Stay Home”

Overall it is a beautiful place but I have never seen anything like this on any river. I may just be looking for some reassurance this is not the normal down there, we were planning to go back next summer. When we hit Foster bar the people we were loading next to us said “ Get off the ramp if you don’t have a trailer, *****ing out of staters on our river.

I was at a loss this place was like the Wild West with no rules or river etiquettes. Sorry for my first post ramble I had to get this off my chest
Sorry you had such shitty experiences from some of the other boaters. To answer one of your questions, no that is not the norm. The folks you describe sound like total a-holes, and no doubt their attitudes and behavior take place off the river as well.
One suggestion, if this kind of thing happens again please take pictures of them. The people, the boats, and better yet, their boat tag numbers. If you don’t have a way to snap pictures, jot down their tag number (s). Then when you’re off the river call the rangers and tell them what happened. I’m not sure what they can do for this particular Rogue river management system, but I do know that with witnesses (other folks in your group) and any documentation/evidence, it is possible to have the offending party banned from a river for a period of time.
The Rogue is one of the finest rivers around. Don’t let those particular folks prevent you from enjoying it again in the future.

This is an example of why reading the whole thread first before posting is good practice…

Trolling or not aside, how the f**k does a "lady" write as opposed to a gentleman? We're now judging people's answers with an attitude from the 1950's?
Sorry for the long delay! I have no idea what a lady is supposed to sound like on the internet, or if there is a general set of characteristics that could be ascribed to their digital communications.

I do however know when I am I dealing with a man that is roleplaying a women 😁! What can I say, I sometimes run in freaky circles both in real life and online.

I just had a discussion about this thread a few days ago at Winkle Bar with a few BLM Rangers. This is some funny stuff! I really do love how weird and southern-oregony this whole catboat mafia yarn is.

I feel kinda sorry for anyone that owns a set of black cat tubes now. I cannot begin to fathom the amount of on-river stink-eye they're going to get now.

I was looking into the possibility of starting an Idaho Chapter of the CBM (literally 30 seconds ago), but AIRE, Maravia, or NRS don't appear to use black material. Is SOTAR the only company that uses black?

Ring up the DOD, they prefer black for their nighttime OPS

NRS would probably be happy to make you a custom set of black tubes. They carry the material for repairs. Of course it will take a LONG time before they'd actually get around to building it.
