Rafters and Kayakers,

Please note the following information update from the Peaks to Plains project:

This week crews began rock fall mitigation just after the Ox Bow portion of Clear Creek at the “Horrendous Left Turn” and “Whew!” rapids. This rock fall mitigation has had complications that might require rafters and kayakers to pull off on an abutment entering this area of the river. Please pay attention to spotters and flaggers that will direct water crafts to the abutment, where they might be delayed between 20 minutes – 1 hour. In order to lessen impacts, crews will work Monday – Friday from 5:30 a.m. – Noon, through July 18.

If you have any further questions, please contact the Public Information Team.

-Thank you,

I am confident that there is a new 15'x15' rock dead center in the last rapid above the Hwy 119 bridge.

I am curious, was this done by the Peak to Plains trail crew? There was a crew on the river right side yesterday and this rock is brand new. I'd like to see it stay in the river, it makes for a more awesome rapid, I'm just curious if you could comment on that.
