Just wondering how bad the bugs are now that the water is dropping down to 5k cfs. Anyone do this stretch lately? Is it bad below Sand Wash? If so, for how many miles? Putting in on Sat! :)

We took out yesterday, launched on the 18th.

Bugs were not an issue at sand wash. Some bugs the first two nights, but not horrible. Once we were past cedar ridge, pretty much bug-free. Our flows were from 7000-3500 so ymmv.

Do you think the bugs are yet to come, or is it just not a bad bug year due to the dry spring or something? (We launch a week from now)
Not sure if I'm catching you before your launch. We took out on Sat. Bugs were not bad below Rock Creek. Some horsefly attacks here and there on the river, but bugs were not bad at camp.

We launched on the 24th, took out on the 2nd. There were definitely mosquitoes at dusk at Sand Wash and Jack Creek, but not the biblical swarms I remember from years past. We spent 2 nights at Flat canyon, and there were hardly any by then. I slept out on my boat the rest of the trip. A few horseflies, but no more than one or two a day got a piece of me, and they've met their maker now.
Saw a bear at Flat, it was ambling upstream on the Ute side. Have a great trip!
