I'm putting together a new boat and need all the ideas for rigging I can get. So, do me a favor and post tons of photos and descriptions of how you roll. Tell me what works, what doesn't, and anything you'd do differently.
Long story behind this boat. It's been in a lot of Cascade catalogs. It's an '02 Maravia Spider. It belonged to one of my best friends who passed away a number of years ago. It was the first boat I rowed and that moved me over from being 100% a kayaker. It was so awesome to bring my own beer on a trip. I just bought it from his wife. I'm going to R2 for the rest of the summer and then drop the frame in for some trips next spring. Time to go cow tippin'.
Sprayed today. Rack for two weeks. Then I get to tinker with my new boat to get ready for my 40th b-day trip. If you're wondering what gift to get me, don't worry about it. I just bought my mid-life crisis convertible.
I'm not sure what happened to Cheryl but I can't speak highly enough of the people there now. Great folks and product.
It's my fourth Maravia. Now my boat quiver will be an original Spider and a new Zephyr. Seems like a great setup for Idaho rivers. Plus, built in the US about four miles from my house by people I know and trust.
Realized I never put a pic up of my finished boat. Zephyr with River Rat frame. I run kitchen box with a table on top, skinny bay for water jugs, fire pit, whatever, 125 cooler, ammo slings, and me on a dry box. Was going to go custom side boxes but the ammos fit great. I keep the bar in one and it's easy to haul up to camp. Also can run a drop bag in the front if I don't have to bring my kitchen. Pretty happy with the setup.
I'm all good with whatever floats and have rowed and paddled free to really expensive and everything in between just to be clear. But some comments necessitate a smartass response. Especially on the internet.
