Hey I am going down to Chile this winter (getting there in December) and hoping to guide down there. I don't have any jobs lined up down there now, but I've heard that it's pretty easy to get a gig (or at least rent-a-guide) once you're down there, especially in the more popular places like Pucon where I'll be.

Does anyone who guided down there in the past have any suggestions? Is it a good idea to email the companies down there looking for work or better to wait until you get down there?

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on the visa process that would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Nicky

I emailed a resume years ago to a bunch of companies down there and made contact that way. Worked well. Networking is always my preference though.

I've had good luck entering on a tourist visa. Once employed, many the companies cover the work visa.

I'd try to get there early season before the ranks are completely full.

Cheers!
