Having thoughts on swapping my current paddle which has larger blades that have some flexibility for another which has slightly smaller blades wrt surface area but is much stiffer. Length of both is the same. Anything that I need to be aware of? Will it help power the stroke or not?

Thanks in advance.I will use it for general river running.

Paddles

Blade size does make a difference as it allows you to grab more resistance. The stiffness of the paddle allows you to predict how much water you can hold onto while in resistance mode. With a flexi paddle the water slips off the blade easier and you lose energy. That being said super stiff paddles do not absorb as much energy and can break easier and may be harder on joints and tendons.
