Hey all, I'm now to the sport/forums. Great community you have here!

I'd like to get my neighborhood pool to open up some time to allow boaters in to fool around/practice. Has anyone gone through a similar request process with their community who may offer tips? Any suggestions on what sort of ammo I should bring to support my case?

Thanks!

Find out when the less popular times are.....My local city pool has been very supportive of kayaking, the only stipulation was that we come in the morning during old-lady water aerobics. I doubt they'd let me come when all the kiddies are going wild, but during early morning hours they didn't have a problem at all.

A lot of the pools local to Portland have kayak sessions from 9-10 or 10:30 during the winter. Well after the kiddies go to bed.

We just talked with the director. Managed to get the pool to extend their open time by one hour on Tues. and Thurs.

Look for smaller colleges and universities with pools. They are often quite happy to accommodate as either a way to garner some extra revenue or just justify the use of their pool. Pools are expensive and aquatic directors love showing just how much use their facility gets.
