After 5 years of ideas and 2 years of fundraising, we are going in to replace the Pocket Wave at the Buena Vista's Whitewater Park This is the feature below the Staircase Wave and above South Main. The hydraulic performance at most river flows here was below par and we have plans to redo the entire structure over the next 2 weeks. The work is being done now because native flows are very very low. Which makes it easier to work in the river. This type of construction used to be done during winter months, but now the state moves far too much water from November-March to be able to successfully build feature in the wintertime.

Please be aware that this construction is going in case you are going to be paddling in the river park over the next few weeks. Stay tuned to see the progress and we look forward to having a much improved feature for all paddlers and all river users by spring 2016. Thanks.

Hi. The goal of this remodel is to be more wave oriented than a hole. To be a little more user friendly for kayakers of all abilities and for other paddlers than what we had there in the past. Also will redo the bank terracing and improve the access in and out of the river. Should be a huge improvement.

Sounds great. I remember a little community walk discussing the feature a year or two ago but didn't remember what the consensus was. Your the man Earl. Another wave as you describe it sounds perfect. Thanks!
