Coming up to Denver on Thursday. I am heading up to paddle on the Arkansas around Salida on Fri-Sun. Monday I think I will have the morning to paddle before I fly out that night. How much water is needed for the golden and south platte (confluence) parks? Also, are they worth going to vs. staying in Salida (or going to Buena Vista) and just hitting some play waves there? I thought paddling some different stuff would be fun. Any suggestions for flows and ideas for best place would be great. FYI I am an intermediate paddler, comfy on class III, done a bit of class IV, I would like to do a bit of surfing and playing on some nice surf waves that are good for learning.

Thanks!

Confluence is pretty gross, not to mention lacking water. Golden is also very low, so unless you get really bored on the Ark just stay there. If you do get bored there, neither of those locations will be an improvement. If levels rise, clear creek can be fun to float higher up the canyon, with easy roadside shuttle options.
