I will be in the Ouray area during early/mid July, visiting from out of state. Are there any park and Huck or Park/Hike and Huck opportunities for waterfalls within an hour or so of Ouray?? Thanks to all for any info.
might still be water in S. Mineral ck, which can't be too much more than an hour. Lots of little creeks off 550, you might find something new if you are adventurous. Also might be some water left in the uncompagre through town there. Much depends on more snow instead of this eaerly melt trend that seems to be trying to take root. Certainly lots of good wheeling around those parts if that is your thing.
that would be a good time for the unc gorge above town. take out at a lake above the huge falls and hike up to the road. put-in either 1 or 2 miles above that, at the only places you could hike in, down side creeks. scout the whole thing from the rim before launching, as a mis-placed log would more than suck. super-cool deep vert-walled gorge.
