I have some opportunities for cheap lodging in Estes Park. Is there any paddling in the area? I read some where about a play park??

Weather permitting of course.

Depends on what time of year. The Big T runs through town. There isn't a park but behind the Dairy Queen is a decent hole to play in. There is really only enough water though during run-off.

The Big T below in the canyon has some water, but it is all dam controlled and rarely ever has enough water to float down. Typically only after a large rain storm. Probably better off heading 25 minutes south to Lyons or an hour north up to the Poudre outside of Ft. Collins.

There's a really brief window where you can do an overnighter on the Big South starting in Estes.. But, that's nutty and a long two days with heavy boats to do in the beginning of the season.

For the drive, its 30 mins to lyons, which has a better ww park. I live in estes in the summer, and unless the wave behind DQ is great, its better to drive to Lyons.
