The upper is GTG right now as long as you are a competent kayaker. If not try your luck on the Durango town run. Post in Durango river ralliers on facebook to see if any one is willing to paddle with you

Last time I heard about people running the Animas near 5,000 cfs; 2 people died on Garfield Slide (10 mile rapid). If you're up for it, then more power to you as a talented kayaker, but just know what you're getting yourself into.
