Rookie question. Just bought me a Aire 156D. What is a good oars length for that boat?

oar length

Measure between the oarlocks, multiply by 1.5 add 4-6" or measure from the tip of handle to the oarlock x 3. Not an exact science, but that will get you close.

I had a standard NRS seat bar with NRS low back seat. I had standard 6" oar towers and I'm 6'1" and I rowed my 156D with 9' sticks and I was very comfortable.

72 inch frame=10 to 9 foot oars. 66 inch frame=9.5 to 8.5 60 inch frame=9 to 8 foot oars 54 inch frame=8.5 to 7.5 This is a good guideline. If you are rowing lesser whitewater, class 1 to 3 go on the long end. If you are rowing greater whitewater go on the shorter end.

I've used 9 and 10 foot oars on my 156d and prefer 10.
