I wanted to ask for recommendations to see if there is a better way to do a day trip on the north platte through northgate. Last season we had a great time on that stretch, but the haul out of six mile gap was not fun. This year I hope to try out my 16' raft and REALLY want to avoid that haul. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks, Cy

Make it a 2-3 day trip and pull out at the Bennett Peak Campground or Treasure Island. Both have drive-in ramps. Otherwise, suck it up and haul out at Six Mile.

That's why it's not crowded.

Chip I've never been in the area but have been thinking it would be fun to borrow a raft and go camp for a couple of days...
What do you recommend for a trip with northgate included?
Sorry to thread jack but I thought it was close enough on topic to work...

Pickaroon is an option, but is on the wrong side of the river and requires a long shuttle, on which it is easy to get lost. It also requires an extra ten give or take a few miles. On the opposite side of Pickaroon, there is an old road that goes down to the river; but it is touch and go, particluarly if it is wet. It is a serious 4wd and easy to get stuck.
