Hey there, I am totally getting into kayaking at the wrong time of the year but it just sort of happened that way. I've been spending hours in the pool practicing rolling and feel that I am ready to get into a river. Is there anything around colorado springs that you could reccomend as a good place for beginners?

I hear the Pueblo playpark is a great place to learn.

Most every thing is dried up. If you don't mind driving, head towards Kremling. The pumphouse run is suitable for a beginner run. Only two named rapids on it, Eye of the needle and Yarmony. It's not the most exciting run but the water is moving. You should be able to meet up with others that are gonna run it. Just watch the buzz and see if you can get in with a group.

Right now the Playpark in Pueblo, perhaps the nature Center in Pueblo or some sections above Parkdale for you like Trading Post to Lone Pine.

Don't go alone. Check out the lounge at the Colorado Springs based Pikes Peak Whitewater Club and inquire around there.
