Hey Buzzers,

I managed to pick up a cancellation on Gates of Lodore. The only problem is that it is October 20th. Does anyone have any input on this late of a trip? The river office states that flows will be 800 cfs-is this enough? Will ice be a problem. What is the weather generally like around there that time of year? Thanks for the help.

Do a google search for average weather in October at Dinosaur, Colorado.
Dinosaur National Monument, Colorado/Utah Weather Forecast / Climate / Average Temperatures
DINOSAUR NATL MONUMENT, COLORADO - Climate Summary
I'd guess that ice will not be a problem. 800 cubies will float a raft, no worries. It's Colorado, so a freak snowstorm is a possibility. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Cold hands is a small price to pay for a trip down Lodore. The leaves might even be changing! Purdy! Got room on that permit for a helpful Kayaker? :D

Search for & read the other recent posts on Lodore. They tell you which rapids are tricky at low water. You'll probably get hung up on a few rocks, but 800 is fine.

Yea, it's a gorgeous trip and weather will be 30-80 degrees that time of year.
