It is a kayak race on the snow. That about all I know, maybe someone else could give you a better explanation.

I've seen videos of this. If you need to slow down, you basically flip over and drag your head.

CO Headwaters of Adventure 1st Annual SnowYak Spring Competition

DATE: April 8, 2006

LOCATION: Base of Monarch Mtn.

DISCIPLINES
 Head to Head Downhill - Two boats side by side, placed on separate tracks/courses. Fastest kayak of the two advances to next round. (Must be over 12 yrs of age.)

 Boater Cross - four boats at one time on same start line (not individual tracks). Top two boats advance to next round. Final round: first boat to cross the finish line wins. Potential for carnage. (18 and over only.)

 The Bartender Challenge - Obstacle course for bartenders, waitstaff and/or anyone interested in sporting a pair of ski boots, tray with drinks in hand and hitting a spiffy obstacle course, designed by the mountain staff.
