First year in five I won't be coming out to Colorado. Time for you drought stricken Colorado boaters to make a pilgrimage to the Midwest.... Cheap flight or 15 hour drive.

The entire Minnesota north shore is having a once a century flood event. 2 weeks of incredible boating ahead. Road situation will be tenuous. Wood? Who knows. The shore has 30 class IV and v creeks as hyper gnar as you want to get. Every 10-15 miles with (normally) easy access. Lots of slides and falls. Similar in style to crested butte. We usually boat the goods during ice out. Things very, very rarely run in summer.

Here is a micro-creek in duluth called the amity which runmarat most 20 days per year. https://fbcdn-video-a.akamaihd.net/...__=1340247840_02efeeec2cdffe0e65571acde9f67e5
This is at the source.

There was even a polar bear and seals on the loose this am as a another micro creek engulfed the zoo.

The Saint Louis river is run during the summer at 350 cfs (creeky run) It is at 45,000 cfs today. never been this high.

Bittersweet though flood damage to thousands including a lot of boaters.

Saw this on the 'Canoe and Kayak' Facebook page. This wouldn't be you would it?

"High water in the Northland. Duluth, Minnesota just got 10 inches of rain in one night, but this guy's making the best of it."

The flooding up there is epic. The St. louis river, which usually runs around 1000 this time of year, and 10000 at its peak is pumping 43000 cfs into the the reservoir and now over parts of the dam. The lower usually sees peaks of less than 4000 and it's getting hammered with the full flow.

Yeah, the creeking up there is really fantastic when its running -- anything from IV+ days to V++ days, depending on levels and how much you're willing to take on.
