I have a 16 ft Aire Cataraft with a custom frame consisting of two separate sections. One has two bays and the other the rowers compartment. I'd like to add another module for an additional bay to hold a cooler or dry box. I'm having trouble finding a steel frame maker near me (Albuquerque) but I've seen several places, including Down River Frames that manufacture "Trailer Frames" but they are aluminum. I can't see any problem mixing aluminum and steel components, particularly because they will only be strapped to the same tubes and each other. Am I missing anything?

No, your not missing anything. Shouldn't be an issue, any add on will work if your using strap connections.
