Buzzards,

There is no official downriver race in Lyons Outdoor Games this year. There is an unofficial one just created with race directors endorsement this morning on same course but it is UNOFFICIAL ie no registration and not part of official event.

Entry: None

Shuttle Meeting location: Black Bear Hole/main Outdoor Games headquarters. 815 am. Look for my Black Audi with Wildwater boat on top. Self shuttle (ie consolidating onto several vehicles departs 8:30 sharp.

Race start: This Saturday, June 13th, 9am Apple Valley Bridge put in where Apple Valley Road meets 36 Highway. Limited parking for maybe 4 cars before neighbors fire gunshots. Timer at finish line starts at 9am regardless of if we are in our boats yet:) Finish line is Black Bear Hole Rapid approx 24 minutes downstream.

Rules: No elbows or headlocks allowed. Mass start of probably 10 kayaks at 9am. No safety boats will be on course and if you assist another kayaker in distress you win the race. Any plastic or composite kayak less than 14 ft fine with greater than 300 cfs.

Beta: Shallow class 2 creek (South St. Vrain) with appox 8 Class 2+ manmade drops. Check out flows online. Anything over 300 is fun AND I JUST SAW CONFIRMATION THAT A 300 PLUS CFS RELEASE IS CONFIRMED ENSURING GREAT FLOWS ON SAT/SUN SO SAT RACE WILL BE SCREAMING DOWN THIS SECTION.

More information: Call Jeremy at 303 641 5762 (cell) or email at [email protected]

www.lyonsoutdoorgames.com for maps etc to Black Bear Hole but everyone in Lyons knows where this is so just ask or look for boats right as you enter on Highway 66.

Isn't that the NSV? you say ssv.

Wouldn't it make sense not to do this at the same time as the ssv race?

I bet you might have enough for a Duo category if it didn't conflict with the creek race.

Yes, Dave, you are correct. I meant North St. Vrain. A duo race would be a great idea but am trying to keep this simple this late in the game. Feel free to propose this next year but all the sprinters I spoke with could only do Sat 9am time....sorry about conflict.

Dave,

I looked at creek race schedule to see if there was a way to do both. It doesn't finish till 2:15 which doesn't work. One should finish the sprint race by 9:40 and could still make the 10:15 creek race start especially if they self shuttle.
