The Lyons pool sessions start again this coming Friday, the 18th. at Centennial Pool in Longmont. This year is special since Stephen Wright is going to be teaching clinics every Friday night for a nominal cost of $20 per person, plus the pool cost. The pool sessions are every Friday night from 7:00-8:45, and run through April 12th. The cost is $85 if you sign up for the whole program, which comes out to $6.50 a night, or $10 for drop in. (If it gets busy first preference will go to those signed up for the full session). There is also a beginner lesson program instructed by local instructors available for kids for a pretty small cost. More info on the cost and the sign up is availble on the Town of Lyons website at www.townoflyons.com under the Parks and Recreation tab.

This is a great chance for local boaters, and our kids, to get instruction from one of the top playboaters in the game. Stephen also coaches the Keeners program, and other top notch teenager programs, so he is an accomplished instructor as well as competitor. He is staying in the area for a few months this spring, so don't miss the chance to join us and step up your game.

Up to date information and schedules will be posted on the Lyons Kids Kayaking blog at www.lyons.geosugar.com/kayaking

Forgot to say that the clinics will run for the first hour, with the last 45 min. being an open pool time. Stephen will be paddling with us for the whole time, and hanging with the kids.

Yet another update for the Stephen Wright clinics at the Lyons pool session: We are going to break them up into teens one night and adults the nest, alternating through the 13 weeks of the program. Stephen will work with the novices periodically during the second hour of the pool time. If you sign up for 5 of the clinics on the font end you get a price break of $25, aas in 5 for $75 (plus the pool fee which supports Lyons Parks & Rec renting the pool for us). Also, we will have to limit the number to 6 in each clinic so that everybody gets individual attention. We are still working on a sign up process, so for now you can just call or text me, Kevin at 303-859-0029 and I will add you to the clinic list or let you know if it is full.

We will try to get this all up on the Kayaklyons blog as soon as possible.

Thanks and see you there

clinics this week

The first 4 classes will be focused on freestyle fundamentals and rolling tune-ups/bombproofing. Probably first 2 freestyle, 2nd rolling stuffs :)

In our Freestyle Fundamentals classes, we will focus on the skills that will help kayakers of all levels learn to move their boats in every direction. These clinics are really fun and will not only work on specific freestyle skills, but will give students a pathway to improve the movements that make EVERY freestyle trick happen. This way they can build the strength and skills necessary to learn any trick much more quickly This will also be a great work-out--you will be sore after! These are also many of the same drills that I (and many of the other best kayakers in the world) use as a part of our daily warm-up and practice routine.

See you friday!
Stephen
