We just got back from a 6 night Deso trip. We encountered a log in the middle of the river at the tail end of coal creek rapid. It is perfectly perpendicular to the river with a stump sticking up on the left and the log running about 15 feet to the right. This is after the main Coal creek rapid (after the whitewater section) and on the tail end as it curves to the left. Steer to the left of the stump or farther to the right to avoid the log. We had a Duckie paddler almost get pinned. We did scout the rapid, but you cliff out and cannot see the log downstream.
