Colorado boaters have a long tradition going back to the 1950's of being innovators in the sport- building some of the first whitewater kayaks in the country. A research program initiated by the MIT Sloan School of Management (USA) and Copenhagen Business School (Denmark) seeks to study open innovation in sport communities. They want to better understand how individual kayakers contribute to the development of the sport and to the development of the whole industry by their innovative ideas and contributions. Please help by completing their ten minute survey at http://www.kayakingsurvey.org/.

If anyone who knows kayak innovators who are not online- some of the older boaters- and could pass on a paper copy of the survey, that would be very helpful. Both Word and PDF files are available at http://www.theriverchasers.com/theriverchasers_005.htm. These responses can be returned via email or regular mail.

Thanks for your help and participation.

In case anyone is interested, here's a link to Eric von Hippel's webpage at MIT- he's one of the researchers behind this survey. http://mit.edu/evhippel/www/
You can download free copies of his books, Democratizing Innovation (2005), and The Sources of Innovation (1988 ) from his website. Let me know if you are interested in the research papers that specifically talk about whitewater innovation. I don't have a website link but I do have pdfs of the papers.
