Hi,

I just wanted to say that I think it's great to see the paddling community come together to help out Katie.

I also want to remind everyone that the address to make contributions to is, Katie Hilleke assistance fund at 821 bluff creek club rd, Quinton, Al 35130.

To be entered in the raffle you should send Mike an e-mail at [email protected] and tell him how much you donated and give him your contact information including your address to receive your possible prize.

See you on the river.

Thanks,

Tao Berman

Thanks Tao for your message. The Hilleke's are so touched by all the support from the boating community and while the financial support is very important, don't underestimate the value of simple messages of support. Sometimes just knowing there are people out there who are pulling for you and care mean more than we realize.

Gotta give a whoop and a holler out to our rad boating community for their support.
But, and i know i might catch some flack for saying this....
What if someone in our community that isnt pro or even associated with any pros had the same problem? Would that person get the same attention? 4 topics all devoted to that person? isnt dagger a multi-million dollar company? why cant they fork over some money.....? Im just trying to be realistic for the normal citizen boater. Please lemme know if im way outta line..........

Good point. And yes, we will help out where we can. I was not going to let this out but the boat I donated to Katie was one of my own personal boats. I get three a year and only used two this year. I figured I would do some good with it as Tommy is a friend of mine and I know his sister through him. And in the past I donated my prize for winning the Gore Race in 2002 (A Riot boat) to a local charity that auctioned it off for $800 and raised money for a local non paddling dude here in Eagle county. He too had cancer and unfortunatly died within a few months. So the answer is yes, I myself will always help out when I can.

Steamboat08, I am the one that made 4 stickys out of this topic. We only have one more week to the fundraiser so if the posts dont appeal to you please be patient and I will remove them next Tuesday. I apologize if its a bit much but considering the positive things that have come out of these posts I am happy with the choice I made. If there comes a time when you need help, send me a note and I will make a sticky out of it even if you arent a pro.
